The Mighty Lucifen

The Mighty Lucifen was one of the first characters created for the billing. Freefall comics wanted a stronger female presence that wasn’t generalized to the role of the useless house wife or love interest. Concept designs were all hand drawn, before being scanned and then traced with the pen tool using Adobe Illustrator. Five things I love about Vector images. One, they’re clear to see, two the image is clean cut and precise, three the image stays honest to itself without the use of filters, four they can be resized to your own selfish needs without losing quality and lastly, it forces you to truly play with lines and pantone colours instead of relying on photo filter layers and shadow.

Lucifen felt more of a construction, rather than a trace, the black space giving it a very graphic novel feel without adding wear and tear to the image. Manor.Co is the alias used by the Egg Company due to naming differences between members of the FreeFall comics group. The Mighty Lucifen was used as the promotional poster for the Freefall comics exhibition, though clearly not finished or refined. Similar to a teaser for a movie.
